Add And Adhd Driving Problem In Adult

Posted by admin on Friday, December 3, 2010

An adult with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD is at a higher risk of getting more traffic tickets, being involved in crashes or having his or her license suspended.

If you are an adult with ADD or ADHD, then chances are you have a number of accidents in your name, mostly because of reckless driving. Attention deficit disorder is the reason why a driver gets easily distracted, even by something as routine as the ring of a cell phone or something on the radio or CD player.

Another contributing factor to those with ADD or ADHD getting involved in more accidents than normal drivers is that unlike other drivers, those suffering from this condition have the tendency of multi-tasking while they are behind the wheels. It is difficult for them to solely concentrate on the road ahead or the traffic, or even keep an eye on the speedometer.

Adhering to road rules, or waiting till a light turns green are things that a driver with ADD or ADHD is simply unable to do. He or she will always be in a great hurry to get to the destination as fast as possible, and hence all the traffic tickets and other related problems. Driving while under the influence of alcohol too is a common issue for such drivers.

Dodging traffic in a precarious manner, getting upset with those driving slowly, ignoring traffic lights when in a hurry or daydreaming while driving are all sire signs of a driver with ADD or ADHD.
